  • A cup of milk

See recipe card for quantities.

Instructions

  1. Step 1: In a pan, saute onions and garlic until translucent and add in ground beef, spices and tomato paste. Once cooked, set aside.
  1. Step 2: Grab an oven safe baking tray and begin to brush melted ghee on the bottom. Begin to layer a sheet or 2 of phyllo dough, and brush with more ghee. Keep repeating this step until half way through the phyllo sheets.
  1. Step 3: At the half way point, add in the beef mixture and spread evenly. Finish off the layering of phyllo sheets with ghee in between each layer. Cut your goulash into your desired square sizes with a knife.
  1. Step 4: In a bowl, whisk an egg and milk and pour all over the pre cut goulash. Bake at 350F for about 30-40 minutes and golden! Serve warm and enjoy!

Hint: Cook the onions and garlic until soft and smells good, and brush each phyllo layer with ghee so it turns golden and crispy.

Variations

  • Cheesy Goulash - add extra shredded cheese between the meat layers for a gooey, cheesy filling.
  • Spicy Kick - add a pinch of chili powder or cayenne for a little heat.
  • Herby Flavor - mix in fresh parsley or cilantro with the meat for extra freshness.
